The road to nursing isn’t always easy
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
I am a mother of five children, a wife and a daughter. I am also a nurse
and a student. Balancing all of these roles is not an easy task, but I use
focus and dedication to achieving my goals to keep going. Currently I am an
LPN who is enrolled in a bridge to ADN program. Becoming a Nurse
Practitioner has always been my goal, but it has taken me many steps to
reach even my current point, when dealing with raising my family and
supporting them. I am proud of what I have done so far, especially
considering I never finished high school. I have earned academic excellence
and perfect attendance from my LPN program, and Dean’s Academic Honors when
enrolled in university for my pre-reqs. I also can boast that I was the only
member of my LPN class to have perfect attendance. That was not an easy feat
when you consider fice school aged kids and the frequency children like to
get ill and need to stay home from school, however all of my family has
worked to help me get to where I am today. I know one day I will be able to
show them the rewards and be there for each one of them when they need me as
repayment. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but nursing is were I belong, and
it’s worth the struggle.
